About this property

Welcome to The Grand Hotel

Located at 1 Chase Hill Road, The Grand Hotel offers a contemporary retreat overlooking the Kennebunk River, just a short walk from Dock Square and about a mile from Gooch's Beach. This four-star property provides stylish rooms featuring marble bathrooms and balconies, many guests appreciating the spaciousness and modern decor. The on-site art gallery adds a creative touch to the ambiance, complementing the clean and up-to-date interiors.

The hotel operates a unique check-in process with no front desk on-site; guests collect keys from a sister property nearby. While this arrangement has occasionally caused surprise, clear advance communication can ease arrival. Rooms come equipped with essentials such as mini-fridges and offer quiet surroundings despite proximity to the main street. Some visitors note smaller storage spaces and minor inconsistencies in room amenities, reflecting a mix of experiences.

Among facilities, The Grand Hotel is LGBTQ+ friendly, accommodating a diverse range of travelers. Breakfast is offered as a continental selection, and for dining, Rosella KPT, a highly regarded Japanese and sushi restaurant located at the same address, is a convenient option. Parking is dedicated and usually available, an appreciated feature given the hotel's central location.

The location suits visitors seeking easy access to local attractions like the Seashore Trolley Museum, Gooch's Beach, and Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, all within a short drive. Proximity to airports such as Portland International Jetport, around 37 minutes by car, adds to the convenience. For those exploring the area, several highly rated inns and hotels are nearby, offering alternative accommodations within close range.

Overall, The Grand Hotel caters well to guests prioritizing location, modern comfort, and a quiet atmosphere, though some expectations about service style and amenities should be managed in advance.

We recently stayed at the Grand Hotel Kennebunkport and were pleased. It is odd that there isn’t anyone at the front desk. We did have to go to their ‘sister property’ to get our keys, which was easy enough but they should probably tell guests before arrival that this is the procedure and that there is no one on site. Our room was beautiful and very spacious. We had a 2nd floor king room with a balcony, there was a mini fridge in the room. The bathroom is lovely, the heated floor is so nice but the bathroom lighting is a little dim. The continental breakfast was very nice with a lot of options (bagels, cereal, yogurt, fruit). The location of the hotel is great, all restaurants and shops are walkable. We would definitely stay at this property again.

I had some questions/concerns based on other reviews of the Grand Hotel. We booked a "Grand King with Balcony" and were assigned room 202. We got to Kennebunkport early, so we went to the Kennebunkport Inn to pickup physical key cards. We also had the app downloaded. The front desk at the Kennebunkport Inn was helpful and welcoming. The overall hotel feels up to date and clean. It has an elevator. Upon getting to our room, we were impressed with the cleanliness, quality and size. Everything was modern- the bathroom was excellent. The balcony was large and perfect if you wanted to look out onto the main street. We had no issues using the key card and/or the digital app. The hotel was plenty quiet at night- barely heard anyone else, and it was sold out. There was no real noise from the road despite our room facing the main street. My feeling is others who gave the property low reviews were due more to mismanaged expectations than anything else. I can understand if you are not comfortable using your phone as your key. I can also understand if you expected someone at the front desk when you checked in or if you were looking for more amenities such as a restaurant/bar in the hotel. All of this, though, is stated on their web site and should not be a surprise. What was a positive was how welcoming everyone was and willing to help in any way! We loved our first visit to Kennebunkport, and look forward to returning- we'd definitely stay at the Grand again.

Rooms were nice and well decorated. We did have a few issues with the 2 rooms we reserved. The soap/shampoo/conditioner bottles on the wall in the showers were completely empty in both rooms. There was a partial roll of toilet paper on the roll in one bathroom and no extra rolls! And even though the ‘service please’ sign was left on one of the doors, nothing was done in the room. And FYI…the sheets could be softer, not scratchy. BUT after saying all that, the hotel was beautiful and in a great location! And the balcony was wonderful and the breakfast was good but could be better. Some of these issues could be improved if the front desk staff was on location for most of the day and evening.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to Dock Square. Location is perfect if you want to be walking distance from all the shops and restaurants in town. Room was lovely and the hotel was very quiet. A very short drive (or a good walk) to the beach and Parsons Way. We had zero issues and really enjoyed the stay. I gave 4 stars for the room only because the hanging and dresser space was realllly tiny, no big deal for us as it was a short trip but might be tough if staying longer. We would come back!

Great stay, park your car and leave it as you can walk around town easily. Room was a bit tight, my side of the bed felt like it had gotten the most use and was a little to soft for my preference. I believe they have different size rooms so check that out or ask as they are responsive. It was a quiet hotel, the bath amenities, towels, linens were all very nice. Management dropped off a breakfast in the morning that had warm muffins, yogurt and juice which was very thoughtful. We would stay here again as the location is great.

Always a treat to be here! Ogunquit really is a Beautiful Place by the Sea. The Grand Hotel is close to The Marginal Way, Perkins Cove and the center of town. The rooms are large and comfortable. It's just where you'd want to be, if you were here!

My fiance and I had the most wonderful experience at the Grand Hotel on our special occasion. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Our stay their will always be a memory we will never forget and the staff had a huge responsibility for that. I can not thank them enough for making the night so special. Thank you and we will definitely be back.

The staff were fantastic, check in was smooth and some of the best hotel service I have received in recent memory. We were supposed to be staying at a sister property but we're moved due to a pending storm surge concern and the process could not have been smoother, and the staff could not have been more welcoming and professional. The only thing I wished for was a mini fridge in the room (manager told me later on they plan to add them soon), and possibly a bit bigger continental breakfast if we were staying more than just the 2 nights. I would also suggest adding instructions to the check in emails letting folks know to move the white cones in one of the hotel dedicated parking spots to park as it wasn't immediately clear at first arrival, but the dedicated parking meant we always had parking available even when returning late at night. This and Kennebunkport inn are perfectly located to all the shopping, main dining, bars, etc. I feel the price paid per night was fair for the hotel given its location, and I appreciate the fantastic customer service and going above and beyond to recognize our anniversary and calling our restaurant ahead of time to let them know as well.
